Spiritual self-care for each of us is journey of our own. A great number of individuals have built a foundation of spiritual self-care by practicing organized religion while others do not. Ultimately, it involves the activities that we practice with the intent of bringing ourselves into connection and harmony with The Creator. Our spiritual selves require this connection if we desire to feel grounded through the ebbs and flows of life and have a true sense of purpose and fulfillment. Most of us are aware of the significance of mental and physical self-care but neglect our spiritual being; However, keeping a healthy spiritual life assists in managing our mental and physical selves. Everything affects everything.
Mental self-care is multifaceted and can be sought out in various ways. It can include taking time to do the fun things you enjoy, getting adequate rest, indulging in a good book, or basking in the beauty of nature. Unfortunately, many of us do not prioritize this area of our lives because we view mental self-care as a luxury instead of a priority. As a consequence, we are often left feeling physically unwell, overwhelmed with life, frustrated, easily triggered, and melancholy... just to name a few. It is important for us to be consistently mindful of how we are caring for ourselves mentally to ensure that we are also able to care for ourselves spiritually and physically. Everything affects everything.
There are countless benefits to maintaining a physical self-care routine. Many of the physical self-care activities we practice are connected to superficial results or the desire to obtain a specific physical appearance. The way we feel about ourselves is greatly connected to the way we feel about the way we look physically. However, physical self-care also includes being intentional about what we put inside of our bodies. Being a good steward of our bodies includes incorporating healthy eating habits, physical activities, exercise, and medical check-ups. We only get one body. Committing ourselves to include physical self-care as a part of our overall care plan is essential to maintaining optimal spiritual and mental wellness. Everything affects everything.
Hello there! I'm Tangela, but some people call me Shug.
My life has been a journey of both sweet and spicy lessons to savor. I'm a Gen X woman on the cusp of 50, embracing this chapter of life with grace, faith, and a commitment to my holistic wellness. As an empty nester, I've found myself with the time and space to focus on nurturing my spirit, mind and body and I'm excited to share this journey with you. I'm not here as an expert but as someone walking this path alongside others who are doing the same.
I'm learning to navigate the ups and downs of life with God at the center, finding joy in the everyday moments and strength through His guidance. As I am striving for holistic wellness-taking care of my mental and physical health while staying grounded spiritually is the central part of my life now. I hope to be part of a community where we can encourage one another to holistically thrive-not just survive. Everything affects everything-spirit, mind and body.
